Sega launches the Dreamcast in North America

It's been 10 years since Sega launched the Dreamcast, and while it eventually failed, we like to think that in an alternate reality somewhere the Dreamcast reigns supreme Let's imagine Dreamcast victory! In order for the Dreamcast to have been successful, many of the decisions Sega made leading up to the console would have to have been different A Lange & Sohne We're not going to go back that far Instead, let's imagine what could have happened following the Dreamcast's U.S launch on September 9th, 1999, to keep the noisy white console on top of its game.

September 9th, 1999: Sega launches the Dreamcast in North America, selling a record number of units thanks to the low entry price and hot launch titles like Soul Calibur, Sonic Adventure, Power Stone, and Hydro Thunder This actually happened, but we'll get to daydreaming soon enough.Early 2000: Sega rolls out a massive update to Chopard SegaNet online gaming service, integrating match, friends lists, and instant messaging, along with a framework that makes it easy for 3rd party companies to get their titles up and running online EA changes its plans to support the console, delivering a wide variety of action and sports titles,

at least until 2K signs an exclusive license with the NFL Yes, now we are dreaming.October 26th, 2000: Sony introduces the PlayStation 2 to North America The ridiculously low number of units available at launch encounter a problem with the North Concord American firmware, causing them to explode when placed in close proximity to cute kittens and adorable babies Sony still sells huge numbers, but third parties slowly begin to abandon the console, not wanting to be associated with exploding infants.

Nier, the action adventure role playing game from Square Enix and developer Cavia, is coming to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 next year That game may already have a spin off title in the works, according to the newest Famitsu Weekly. It appears that Square Enix will be releasing the game we know simply as Nier under the title Nier Gestalt A second title, Breitling Nier Replicant, is shown in a teaser ad in the Japanese video game magazine's latest issue with promises to reveal more about

the title—hopefully including whatever platform Nier Replicant might appear on—in an upcoming issue Nier Gestalt's ad page features the already revealed eponymous hero, but Replicant's features an all new unnamed When we saw IWC Nier at Gamescom last month, it was clear the title still needed work, but appeared to be improving over its first showing With

the title still months out, it seems a little unusual for Square Enix to possibly bank on a spin off title at this point, given Nier's untested appeal.Perhaps the publisher is looking at following a Compilation of Final Fantasy VII or Final Fantasy XIII model, spreading the property across multiple platforms to get the biggest bang for its buck Maybe a Audemars Piguet PSP or Nintendo DS bound Nier game could spur interest in the console versions.Or maybe we're reading too much into this, and Square Enix has a hell of a mobile phone game to announce.

Dhani Harrison, son of The Beatles' George Harrison and The Beatles: Rock Band consultant, was a guest on last night's show, a rare Tonight Show video game promotional appearance Rare, but one that may offer some insight into how well Harmonix's new Tag Heuer game will fare with the public It seemed to fare alright with Conan and the boys, as shown in the clip below Yep, that's a Hulu clip and may not be available to view in your country or continent Maybe give NBC.a shot at the link below.

The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien Dhani Harrison (09/08/09) [NBC.]We love a good box art And we always appreciate a bad box art But I'm not sure under which column the new Army of Two: The 40th Day cover falls, spooky, dramatic and Bell & Ross explosion filled though it may be.At the very least, it's consistent with the original, with our heroes Rios and Salem once again back to back behind a column that reads Army of Two But perhaps it's a little too close,

intimidating stare of "you better buy this game or we'll shoot up another major metropolitan city, kid" aside And it doesn't say "Total Fistbump Destruction" Rolex Datejusts anywhere. While I think about judging this game by its cover, keep an eye peeled for update impressions of Army of Two: The 40th Day later today.

Man should be able to fly through buildings

In the sequel, a tap of a button puts Iron Man in a hover and then all the buttons of the controller are freed for what amounts to steady moveable-turret-style shooting.A double-tap sends Iron Man into flight mode, but, unlike in, say, Dark Void, flying isn't fatal.""It would be ridiculous for walls to be a threat to Iron Man,"" he said.Instead, Brink replica Bell & Ross S3WTE-TR Men's watches hopes that flying feels as comfortable as it would for someone who played a flight game, like the military fighter jet games he used to make.Better Destruction and Lighting: Brink said — and showed — that destruction should be a key element of an Iron Man game.

Man should be able to fly through buildings, break stuff, and see all of that look cool.Lighting is key and should be dynamic, Brink said, drawing a distinction from the static lighting that he said made the first game's environments look sterile.Brink discussed a lot of replica Bell & Ross MI123-SL Men's watches features during what was no more than 10 minutes of playing the game.He showed ways for Iron Man to hack and control enemies. He talked about ways for Iron Man to perform combo-breaking moves during close-quarter combat.

He demonstrated how Iron Man can swiftly move from one enemy he is kicking to the next one he is punching with leans of the control stick, a la, Brink's comparison, Batman: Arkham Asylum. It's hard to imagine any one thing Brink or anyone else at Sega can say about the new Iron Man 2 game that would alleviate gamer skepticism about the replica Bell & Ross MI126-SL Men's watches sequel.Brink declined to field the softball that maybe hitting the movie-release deadline last time was the thing that hurt the development team.Every movie game has that problem, he said. It's what you do by deadline that makes the difference.
